Kip Hall

Writer/Director KIP HALL was born and raised in London, England and developed a love of film from a very early age. After graduating from the University of Kent in 1998 with a degree in English literature, he set about to ‘conquer’ the film business and was soon hired for his first job as a production assistant at a commercials company. He spent a year and a half learning as much as possible about how productions were run and spent his free time writing shorts that he hoped to one day direct.

After leaving the commercials company, Kip raised the money to finance his first Short The Sandman. It is a tale that intimates some nightmares are more real than we think and was well received on the shorts festival circuit, winning at the York (UK) Shorts Film Festival.

He then decided he wanted to explore the territory of the classic duel but he contemporized it with a twist and "Stiff" was the result. Shot in black and white and with no dialogue, Stiff immediately drew in audiences as it played in festivals around the world. It was also selected to be part of the British Film Councils film tours in various countries and was named as one of the Best of the Fest at the Edinburgh Film Festival.

He followed up Stiff with a commercial entitled Batman, which is an unflinching look at the dangers of not wearing a seat belt.

Kip is currently writing an original full-length feature script that he hopes to direct in 2007.
